As we celebrate our 30th birthday, we salute all current and past members of the Australian Twin Registry. Without you, there would be no registry today.
”To ensure our success for the next 30 years, we need your support more than ever,” says Professor John Hopper, the ATR's Director since 1990.
“I urge you to please support our 30/30 campaign: to raise membership by 30 percent in our 30th anniversary year. By encouraging other twins to join us, we can increase the amount of research being undertaken and the potential to find answers to many diseases,” he explains.
The registry has relied on the voluntary contribution of over 50,000 twin pairs around Australia during its history to support over 450 research studies.
Our members have made a difference to improving treatment for many serious medical conditions such as epilepsy, heart disease, breast cancer, melanoma, asthma, bone and teeth health, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, alcohol and tobacco use, and dementia.
Professor Hopper says that twins recognise there is something special about them that might save the lives of others and they are more than willing to help.
“We would love to hear of your success stories with recruiting new members."
